Grok Voice 3.0: what it does, pricing and video use cases

Grok Voice 3.0 is xAI’s real-time speech-to-speech model for spoken conversations. It launched on October 14, 2026, with an announced API price of $0.08 per minute. It does not animate a photo by itself. A talking-photo video also needs a visual generation or lip-sync step. SnapToClip does not currently use Grok Voice 3.0.

What is Grok Voice 3.0 used for?

Its main purpose is an interactive conversation: a person speaks and the model responds aloud. Think of a voice assistant or support agent rather than a prerecorded greeting. The xAI announcement says the grok-voice-latest alias now uses version 3.0.

For a short social clip, decide whether you need a conversation, a fixed narration or a moving person. These are separate production jobs, even when a product uses the Grok name.

How much does Grok Voice 3.0 cost?

The announced Voice Agent API rate is $0.08 per minute, or $4.80 per hour. Simple multiplication gives $0.80 for ten billed minutes. This is API usage pricing, not the price of a completed video, and not a SnapToClip credit price.

A finished talking portrait also incurs image preparation, speech synthesis or conversation recording, lip sync, content review, storage and unsuccessful attempts. A ten-second audio estimate alone cannot establish the full cost of a ten-second video.

Grok Voice vs text-to-speech vs Grok Imagine: which do I need?

The comparison below describes documented functions, not a hands-on quality ranking. A voice benchmark does not measure face consistency, video motion or lip-sync accuracy.

Can Grok Voice 3.0 turn my photo into a speaking video?

Not by itself. A typical talking-photo workflow prepares a portrait, creates speech from an approved script, animates the face to that audio, and reviews the finished clip. Choose a voice tool for the sound and a video tool for the picture.

SnapToClip’s current speech studio uses Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS and Kling Avatar. It creates a 720p talking portrait up to 10 seconds for 3 credits total: 1 for preparation and 2 for video. Successful preparation remains charged if you stop there; a confirmed failed step returns only its reserved credits. The 1080p option is still in testing. This feature is not powered by Grok Voice 3.0.

Which workflow fits a holiday greeting?

Use a short written message for a personal holiday toast. A warm Christmas set with evergreen and soft lights suits a thank-you; amber pumpkins and gentle mist suit a Halloween introduction. Keep the voice natural and the message short enough to finish comfortably.

For a scene with music rather than speech, choose a standard photo-to-video template. For a spoken greeting, use the separate speech studio and listen to the entire voice preview before confirming the video. Neither workflow offers a celebrity voice clone.

What should I check before choosing a voice model?

Listen for pronunciation, pacing and language accuracy using your own script. For video, also check mouth movement, facial identity and unwanted text. We have not run a direct Grok Voice 3.0 audio comparison, so this guide does not declare it the best voice for video.
